Haute couture is nothing without its history. It is the starting point to shape its future and make it meaningful and purposeful. Dior opened the doors of their Galerie at 30 Avenue Montaigne to unveil the fascinating history of their know-how, embracing the present and perpetuating the memory of this historical place through a magnificent scenographic narrative.
75 years ago, the first collection of the iconic French Maison was born at 30 Montaigne where the most legendary designers have made the reputation and the glory of this luxury brand. Yves Saint-Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons and Maria Grazia Chiuri have all designed timeless and captivating dresses in that very place, adding pages and chapters to a story of glam and perfection.
The exhibition retraces this amazing work in a gorgeous staging realized by Nathalie Crinière in thirteen themes, from the debut of the passionate genius Christian Dior to nowadays, returning on the evolution of the brand via his successors.
After traveling the world from the Victoria & Albert Museum in London to the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, this exhibition has been completed by other specific elements that belong to the Galerie where Christian Dior held his first fashion shows. Among these elements, you can find many documents, photographs, and even gifts that were originally on sale in the 30 Montaigne Boutique. There, you can still find the original office of “Mr Dior” still in the same place, next to a cabin used by models to change and for fittings, arranged exactly as if they never left.
While we were visiting we were astonished by the powerful branding, that finally emanates naturally from the story of real people with great passions and a desire to make powerful clothes and spread beauty around the globe.
